Subject: Live Internet Webinar - Gainful Employment: How to Read Your GE Back-Up Detail Report
Summary: This letter announces an instructor-led, online training session that will provide information on the upcoming release of the Gainful Employment Informational Rates back-up detail reports, with a focus on the technical aspects of the files from the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. (ET) we will be presenting the seventh in a series of webinars designed to provide institutions that participate in the Federal student assistance programs authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, with information on the regulatory requirements related to Title IV-eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation (GE Programs).
This webinar will discuss how institutions can view and understand the new NSLDS Gainful Employment Backup Detail Report (GEDR) that will be provided along with the 2011 GE Informational Rates. We will also review the components of the GE rate notification package, how to request GE back-up detail files, and how these files are organized.
Important Note: On or about May 11, 2012, we will post the new Gainful Employment Operations Manual to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site at the following location: http://ifap.ed.gov/ifap/GainfulEmploymentOperationsManual.jsp. The Gainful Employment Operations Manual should be reviewed prior to attending the webinar, as it contains important information which will complement the webinar presentation. In particular, participants should refer to the "Publication and Access to Gainful Employment Debt Measures and Loan Medians for Disclosures" section of the manual. The webinar will focus on the information provided in this section and an understanding of the section’s content will assist schools with viewing rates online, receiving GE back-up detail files, and understanding the technical aspects of receiving GE rates.
Federal Student Aid staff will present this webinar in a two-hour session on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. (ET).

To allow for as many participants as possible, we strongly encourage groups to view the webinar from a single location if accommodations allow. If viewing as a group, only one person from the group needs to register.

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.
PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.
