Posted on 09-22-2005
The U.S. Department of
Education is pleased to announce the posting of the updated 2005-2006 ISIR Guide,
dated September 2005. The guide and Tracking Log, which lists the changes, are
available in PDF format on the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web
site, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov,
and on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located
at http://ifap.ed.gov.
The ISIR Guide is an invaluable reference designed to help financial aid administrators
interpret the information contained in Institutional Student Information Records
(ISIRs) returned to schools by the Central Processing System (CPS). The term
"ISIR" refers to all processed student information records that are
sent electronically to institutions by the CPS.
** Updated Comment Text
Clarifies SSA Name/DOB Mismatch Reject Suppression **
The CPS is updating 2005-2006
SAR/ISIR comment text to clarify the actions required to suppress CPS rejects
for a name or date of birth (DOB) mismatch with the Social Security Administration
(SSA). We have updated the ISIR Guide to describe these text changes.
The updated 2005-2006 SAR/ISIR
comment text directs applicants whose name or date of birth rejected during
the SSA match, or applicants whose mother's or father's name or date of birth
rejected during the SSA match, to confirm the rejected information (if it is
correct) by re-entering the data.
The following SAR/ISIR
comment codes have been modified by CPS to include the updated language: 16,
17, 40, 51, 60, and 61.
