Direct Loan - Origination and the Common Record

Prerequisites

· The Demographic (Demo) Record
· The FAFSA Tab
· DL Setup Required
· Manually Originating Loans
· Creating Loans from Import

Introduction

As you process Direct Loans in EDExpress, the software tracks their progress and indicates when they are ready to transmit to Common Origination and Disbursement (COD). You must then export these records from EDExpress. The Direct Loan export process collects all records that are ready to send to COD and combines them in a Common Record.

Scenario

You have been processing Direct Loans for FSAU students. Export their loan data to a Common Record that can be transmitted to COD.

Tasks

To manage the Common Record export, you will:

· Review an Origination Record that is Ready to be Transmitted to COD
· Export the COD Common Record
· The Response File
· Review the Document Activity Database
