Getting Started - Help Navigating IFAP

The list below contains links that address student and parent audience looking for loan and grant information and servicing.

Student & Parent Links - Programs

  • Direct Consolidation Loans

These programs simplify loan repayment by combining several types of Federal education loans (that may have different terms and repayment schedules or may have been made by different lenders) into one new loan. The interest rate may be lower than on one or more of the underlying loans. In addition, the monthly payment amount on a consolidation loan is usually lower and the amount of time to repay may be extended beyond what was available in the separate loan programs. These features should result in more manageable debt, and make borrowers less prone to default.

  • Direct Loans - Students

Part of the Direct Loan Web site, this link provides direct access to the Student page where borrowers and parents can find Direct Loan information and publications as well as an interactive repayment calculator.

  • Direct Loan Servicing Online

The Web site includes features such as a detailed borrower account history, an on-line repayment plan and payment due date change option, an interactive deferment and forbearance determination feature, online payments, electronic mail services, and much more.

For information on the eCampus-Based system and instructions for completing the FISAP, users can go to the FISAP Tutorial located on the welcome page of eCB.

  • StudentLoans.gov

This Web site allows individuals to complete online Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and a Direct Loan electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Direct Subsidized Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Loans, and/or Direct PLUS Loans. Direct PLUS Loan borrowers can complete a request for a Direct PLUS Loan and initiate a credit check online. Direct PLUS Loan endorsers can complete an online Endorser Addendum. Electronic loan correspondence and links to other tools and resources can be viewed on this Web site.
