Citations: (R)652.42 AsOfDate: 12/31/95 What are the requirements for a Scholar to continue to receive scholarship payments under the NSSP? A Scholar who has received a scholarship under this part for at least one year of undergraduate study is eligible to receive a scholarship for a subsequent year of undergraduate study under Sec. 652.41(b) or (c), if, at the beginning of that subsequent academic year, the Scholar-- (a) Is enrolled as a full-time student at an institution of higher education for the purpose of receiving a baccalaureate degree, unless the institution has determined that unusual circumstances justify waiver of the full-time attendance requirement and the Secretary has waived the full-time attendance requirement as provided for in Sec. 652.43(b); (b) Continues to major in one of the scholarship disciplines, or provides a written assurance to both the State and the institution of higher education at which the Scholar is enrolled of his or her intent to major in one of the scholarship disciplines, if it is the policy of that institution that a student not declare a major until later in his or her course of study; and (c) Maintains a high level of academic achievement, as defined by the institution, in-- (1) His or her overall course of study; (2) Those science, mathematics, or engineering courses in which the Scholar has enrolled; and (3) The Scholar's major, if declared.
